Geneva Farmers Market Needs Your Help!

GFM, and its sponsor, Ashtabula Local Food Council, work actively to create access to local, fresh foods in Ashtabula County. Part of that mission includes accepting WIC and SNAP at area farmers markets, and for the first time in our county, Geneva Farmers Market will be accepting SNAP this summer. This is an amazing way to get fresh foods, and a vital part of creating a sustainable food network.

Typically, farmers markets are able to access funding to provide free equipment for accepting SNAP, but this year’s funding is unavailable. We need your help to purchase the equipment necessary to accept SNAP at our market.

To make this process easier, we’ve set up an online donation tool through ALFC, found here: http://www.ashtabulafood.org/donate-gfm/

Any donation over $25 will earn you a listing on our sponsorship board, viewable all summer long at the market. Each donation will get a personal shoutout right here on Facebook – your community will know where your heart is! Please donate today!

Grower Planning Sessions

ALFC is hosting TWO grower planning sessions for the Food Hub!

We will have two grower planning sessions this coming week to discuss crop availability and pricing for the Food Hub’s first season!  If you are interested or plan to sell into the Food Hub this summer, please plan on attending either of the meetings below:

1) Wednesday, April 5th at 6pm

2) Sunday, April 9th at 4pm

BOTH meetings will be held at Pairings (50 Park St.)

These planning sessions will help us to determine our product list, as well as allow us to answer questions you may have about the hub as a grower.   If you are unable to attend, but are still planning to work with the food hub this summer, please email info@ashtabulafood.org OR call 440.261.5112.

Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you at either of the two planning sessions!

Registration Open! Farm to Facebook coming Saturday, March 25!
